Should we be worried about the health effects(long and short term) of drinking large volumes of energy drinks? That was the question a review paper published in the Journal Frontiers in Public Health wanted to address.
The publication reviewed the literature on the matter looking in particular at the risks of consuming large amounts of the energy drinks and also in combination with alcohol.
While it does raise some interesting points, the link between drinking energy drinks and behaviours such as “sensation seeking, use of tobacco and other harmful substances, and binge drinking” may be over doing the associations a little as they are adolescents.
I’d be interested to see if they are also more likely to play computer games and sleep in late.
