Following the as yet unpublished study results from an independent Italian laboratory, Splenda or sucralose has been downgraded from safe to caution by the Centre for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI).
This is because the laboratory will shortly publish their findings that mice that were fed sucralose throughout their life had a higher incidence of leukemia than mice that were not. The CSPI stated that it could turn out to be that Splenda is safe but that the findings deserve a closer look before it could return to its previous status.
The full story is available on the CSPI website. An interesting fact in the article is the last paragraph explaining where the natural flavouring Castoreum comes from…..those queasy amoung you should probably give that paragraph a miss….you have been warned!
