Surprising news from the 49th Annual Meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes held in Barcelona at the end of last month.
Obese people with type 2 diabetes were split into two groups, half given a breakfast higher in fat and protein (big breakfast) than the other half. At the end of the trial, the participants that had the “big breakfast” had better fasting glucose levels and required less of their diabetes medication than the group that had the lower calorie smaller breakfast.
