Researchers have pooled together the data from a number of studies and found that eating yogurt seems to be inversely correlated with developing type II diabetes (T2D).
In others words, those who consumed yogurt had a lower chance of developing T2D. The same was not so for other dairy products that were followed during the study such as milk, cream, cheese, cottage cheese etc.
Published in the journal BMC Medicine, the meta analysis took into account data from 3 studies spanning from 18 to 30 years long and involving over 41,000 men and 153,000 women.
The researchers suggest that a clinical trial should be carried out to confirm their findings.
