Dioxins found in German eggs

Eggs from an organic farm in Lower Saxony, Germany, have been found to contain dioxin. It is thought 260,000 eggs could be affected, having levels of dioxin 4 times the legal limit. The farm has been closed and an investigation is underway into the source of the contamination. The farmer is baffled by the contamination as he has never had a problem before or changed any of his farming practises recently.

A spokesperson for the Department of Agriculture stated that the current testing measures, put into place following the 2011 dioxin scare are working.
