Good year for British strawberries

This year strawberry growers in the UK are expecting yields of 56,000 tonnes, up 10% from last year. This is due to the mild and warm spring weather, also apparently resulting in sweeter and juicer fruit.

Another factor helping the strawberry growers in the majority of strawberries are now grown in polytunnels, without these, the recent heavy rain could have decimated the crop.
