…to reduce incidence of malignant hematoma, the most common type of liver cancer.

Yes, we’ve all heard that we should be eating less red and processed meat to reduce the incidence of some cancer. Now a study published in the journal Alimentary Pharmacology and Therapeutics has found that it is eating more fish and white meat that reduces the chances of developing malignant hematoma.

They combined the data from 17 studies and re-analysed it to come to their conclusions. One surprising finding was that they did not find a correlation between eating red or processed meat and incidence of malignant hematoma even though the authors of the original studies did.

They suggest further research to confirm their findings. As a lover of the occasional steak and not so occasional pepperoni pizza I hope someone confirms their results.

The publication is available on the Alimentary Pharmacology and Therapeutics website.
