When dieting, it’s one thing to know you should probably stop eating, but quite another to feel that you have eaten enough.
Now, a team from the US and Australia have developed a chewing gum containing an appetite suppressing peptide, hPYY(3–36). The problem of getting the peptide through the stomach and into the blood was solved by attaching it to Vitamin B12. Injections of the peptide have already been shown to cause weight lose in obese people. This oral delivery system should prove to be as effective without the need for regular injections.
