That’s right, researchers from the UK have published a paper demonstrating that chewing gum can help keep you focused on the task at hand. If only this was known while I was at school.
20 participants completed a test known as the sustained attention response task (SART) both with and without chewing gum and were asked to rate their level of alertness, contentedness and calmness before and after the test.
They found that task performance improved when the participants were chewing gum.
The paper is published in the July edition of the Nutritional Neuroscience Journal.
