The horse meat scandal, over one year has passed and what has changed? Well, in terms of what local authorities can do about it not enough, that is according to Rod Ainsworth of the Food Standards Agency (FSA), UK.
Ron Ainsworth’s report for the board meeting on the 5th March (available from the FSA website) states that current laws concentrate on food safety, which does not cover whether or not the contents are not what they should be.
He recommends that more money and people are required in conjunction with new legislation to deal with the problem.
