Enjoy it as one of the five a day: fungicide level in Brazilian orange juice very low

The European Fruit Juice Association (AIJN) issued a statement in response to the reports in the press regarding Carbendazim residues in orange juice. The residual levels found in the Brazilian orange juice are 10 ppb. To put it in perspective, the maximal residual amount allowed for Carbendazim in the EU is 200 ppb, so this low level does not raise safety concerns.

The AIJN also stated that there are a number of screening programs and quality control systems in place to protect European consumers and that we should continue to enjoy orange juice as one of the five a day.
