UK milk processers reverse price cut

Dairy Crest and Arla, the biggest UK milk processes have reversed the planned cuts to the price they pay dairy farmers for their milk. The announcement comes after days of dairy farmers’ protests and the threat to pour their milk away if the price cuts were not re-thought.

It costs farmers around 0,37ct (EURO) per litre to produce milk and with current prices already at 31ct (EURO) per litre the proposed price cuts would make it impossible for small and family run dairy farmers to continue.

There is an article on the matter on the telegraph newspaper website.
There is also a very informative Q&A on the subject on the BBC website.
