Spoonfuls of sugar help the cereal go down

Parents beware! Some popular cereal brands aimed at children contain as much sugar as servings of cakes and cookies. That’s the warning from a report published by the Environmental Working Group (EWG), a non-profit and advocacy organisation based in the US.

Kellogs’ Honey Smacks contained the highest amount with a staggering 55.6% of the weight from sugar. The report was not all doom and gloom however. Advice was given on what to look out for in the ingredients and how to prepare healthier breakfasts.

The report can be downloaded from the EWG website.
