The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) have given their recommendation for daily protein requirement levels.
Infants, children and adolescents: 0.66g/kg body weight per day.
Adults (including elderly): 0.83g/kg body weight per day.
Pregnant women: an additional 1, 9 and 28 g/day in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd trimesters respectively.
Breastfeeding women: an additional 19g/day for 1st 6 months then 13g/ day when feeding less.

Within the EU, the daily intake is at or above the recommended requirement levels and an intake of double the level is not considered unsafe. A Tolerable Upper Intake Level has not been set due to insufficient data.
