Following a request from the European Commission, EFSA was asked to review the scientific comments received on the Scientific Opinion of the EFSA Panel on Dietetic Products, Nutrition and Allergies (NDA) on the scientific substantiation of health claims related to isolated soy protein and reduction of blood LDL-cholesterol concentrations.

In its opinion adopted on 18 January 2012, the EFSA Panel on Dietetic Products, Nutrition and Allergies (NDA) concluded that a cause and effect relationship had not been established between the consumption of isolated soy protein and reduction of blood LDL-cholesterol concentrations. The comments received do not change the conclusions of the NDA Panel.
