Well, it works on fruit flies at least, that is the findings of a group of scientists from the University of California Irvine, California, USA. The team had previously shown that the extract of Rhodiola rosea could increase the life span of flies, worms and yeast but this time wanted to see if the extension worked by using a dietary restriction pathway, known to increase life span. By testing the extracts on flies with and without dietary restriction they were able to show the effect was independent.

Previous studies on Rhodiola rosea have shown it to have antidepressant properties, antifatigue properties and it could also help against dementia.
