It would seem that hot cereals on the breakfast table are on the increase in Germany. Reported on the Mintel website, the consumption of hot breakfast cereal has increased from 40,000 tonnes to 52,000 between 2011 and 2014.

With more and more people looking for healthier alternatives to start their day, and concerned by the amount of sugar that is added to some cereals, the popularity of porridge is on the increase. Porridge, made traditionally by simply heating oats in milk, which makes it a lot healthier than some of the other options out there.

The industry has cottoned on to this fact and the number of hot breakfast options out there is growing, with many flavours including, for instance, vanilla. But it is not only the addition of different flavours that is occurring. Easy to cook microwave pots for those who eat breakfast on the go are also available.

Normally, I would try to finish this blog with a good Goldilocks joke, but try as I might I could not find one that was just right.
