Milk and type II diabetes

By 16. April 2015Blog, Health, Nutrition

Staying on the subject of type II diabetes, (if you don’t know what I am talking about check out the last blog) it would seem that milk consumption and especially fermented milk (predominantly cheese and yogurt), can reduce your chances of type II diabetes.

The study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, involved over 15,000 adults from Brazil. Blood tests were carried out to measure levels of glucose (glycemia) and insulin (insulinemia).

They found that people who consumed more dairy, especially of the fermented kind, had lower levels of glycemia and insulinemia, suggesting that dairy products are good against developing type II diabetes.

Excellent, cheese is on my menu tonight then!
